Friends for the journey…

We recently had some friends over for dinner: the kind of dinner where we get takeaway and sit round at one of our houses to eat. Over the course of the evening we learned how they had got together as a couple and how they had come to know Jesus. We shared similarly with them and we began to realise just how long we had known each other. It was such an amazing blessing to realise that these friends had been a significant part of our journey for the last 15 years! Then at Mosaic, I was listening to another […]

Perspective Matters

When we were children, we believed what grown-ups told us. As adults, we assume that people who teach, write books, appear on TV, must be right, although the present political campaigns might throw some doubt on that. Brian Doerkson’s song ‘To the River’ started a particular train of thought when we first sang it on a Sunday morning. The first two lines say this: To the river, I am going, Bringing sins I cannot bear. Now, when I first became a Christian in 1977, it was impressed upon me, by more mature Christians and books I read, that I should do […]

Around the Table

What if our dining table became our pulpit? A space to proclaim inclusion, welcome and grace. What if we, just like the one we follow, choose to eat, spend time and savour, moments with friends and strangers? What if we discover that he is with us in the everyday earthiness of breaking bread, sharing wine and washing dishes? That He is in our stories of struggle and hope, weaving his goodness and strength. What if we believe that this mustard seed kingdom can grow around our messy tables, bringing the beautiful reality of heaven coming to earth?  May it be so, Lord and […]

We currently have three types of gatherings that happen in any given month: Table Gatherings (Sundays, 3.30 pm to 5.15pm) – we meet at Community Wise, with a time of good news, creative worship, prayer and short teaching (no more than 25 mins). This all lasts about an hour from 4.00pm. From 3.30 – 4.00pm we share food or a light snack together round one table, talking about life and what it is to follow Jesus together. Refuel Groups (Midweek, various times) – Refuel Groups are based on the idea of petrol stations and how most people use them. We often […]

What is Mosaic? Mosaic is a fresh expression from the Living Stones, Eastbourne family. We are defined by three key words. Gather – Empower – Release. We are a people who gather together, usually around food, and empower each other to be all that God calls us to be , then we release each other into our mission fields to gather others and repeat the process. But, in real nuts and bolts terms it is…?  It can be broken down to two key principles: Loving God in Prayer and Loving Our Neighbours in Practice This is expressed through six key practices derived from […]

Why the name Mosaic?

Mosaics are made up of tiny, broken bits of stone that are different colours, shapes and sizes. They are then pieced together to form a picture that none of the stones could express on their own. We believe that this is a great picture of what the church should be like. Mosaic Church, Eastbourne draws different people together into a family that’s on a journey together. We believe that as we love God and love our neighbours as ourselves wherever we are, we will see a beautiful picture of God forming. We’re a congregation within the Living Stones family of […]
